Jan Roháč from Dubá - a historical figure from the Hussite wars in the Czech Republic was the inspiration for this beautiful puppet. It is mainly a pun because Roháč is a Czech translation of a stag beetle. And notice the details on the costume and armor - a recurring acorn motif. As same as before, this is also a pun. Dubá is a translation for the City of oaks.
Jan Roháč from Dubá was one of the main governors of Jan Žižka, the famous military leader of the Hussite warriors. The Stag beetle marionette has the attributes of Hussite warriors in its armor, as you can see.
The string puppet is on a wire, it has a traditional binding and great maneuverability. The range of movement is determined by anatomy and the number of threads. And the aesthetic impression? Absolutely perfect, plus points for a fresh idea :)
