This order was very special to us. Firstly, the client is our dear friend Carlito a secondly, we wanted to step into the world of stop motion puppets and this project was the best for all of us. The puppets are simply wonderful and we cannot wait to see the movie.

How are they made?

Stop motion puppets are a different field than classic string marionettes. The first step is to have the skeletons made. It's very important to get a high-quality customized product because the movement and stability of the puppets mostly depend on the skeletons. We had ours made by Mr. Vinš, who is well-known for making the best stop motion metal skeletons. You can see photos in the gallery. The next step would be to wrap those body parts in special foam-like material, make sure all the joints move well, and then customized costumes are made. 

To be able to change the facial expressions of each character, we have chosen to make three different heads that are removable. They are all designed in a 3D graphic program and printed out afterward. After brushing the surface to make it smooth we painted each head with great attention to detail. The same procedure was for hands and shoes that are coated with real leather.
