This antique puppet of a farmer was created around the year 1940 by the carver Jindřich Adámek (1874-1955).
In the case of the sale of this puppet, we dedicate half of the amount collected to the development of PUP - Puppet University Prague
This marionette has many beautiful details. The hat of this farmer is made of real fur, his coat is made of corduroy with large black buttons and his shirt is embroidered in a typical old Czech pattern. This piece of history is truly unique and we are excited to have it in our collection.
He came from a carving family, his carvings are mostly nativity scenes; he created both individual figures and entire sets with scenery. He is also the author of many marionettes and complete marionette theaters. His marionettes are characterized by a simple but distinctive carving, wide faces and large eyes. The faces of the girl's marionettes resemble tender porcelain dolls. The heads of women's marionettes are carved without hair so that hairpins can be used and replaced. His marionettes were professionally mastered both in terms of expression and technology.
Thank you for all your advice and help! Guys at Czech Marionettes are really masters of what they do. I have visited them in their studio and got my Skeleton there. Will buy more professional stuff there.
I was surprised by how easy and fun it is to operate. The controls and strings are straightforward, making it easy to create various dance movements. For its size, the puppet is very compact and can be comfortably carried in a small backpack. If you're looking for a simple yet entertaining and nice marionette, this marionette is a fantastic choice.
